Welcome to our Online Discussions Page

Welcome to the online discussions of topics in School Health & Development hosted by the FRESH Partnership. This web page will host time-limited discussions on selected topics and draft documents using a blog format. Each posting on this web page will introduce a draft document that is published as a Google document permitting comments or edits. Participants are asked to post their general comments/suggestions on the topic on this page (click on the title to post your comment) and/or use the Google editing functions to suggest specific changes in the text. For more information about this page or any of the topics, contact [email protected]

Health Literacy - Draft Concept Note (Comments invited on 15-02-2020)
The FRESH Working Group on Health Literacy, Life Skills & Social Inclusion will be posting a series of draft concept notes as part of its work defining the scope, evidence and experience, ways to monitor and potential steps to clarify and monitor student learning in Health, Personal & Social Development (HPSD) education. The first of these drafts is on Health Literacy. We invite your comments and edits.

Note: The draft linked to this brief introduction is available as a Google document. You can comment and edit the document using the Google editing and commenting functions. Preferably, we ask that participants post their comments on the draft by posting a comment on this page. (Simply type your comment in the space provided. If you prefer to make your comments directly or privately, simply send them to [email protected]. But we do hope that this on-line discussion page can serve as a mechanism for everyone as a way to share all of our comments and suggestions.

Updating FRESH Thematic Indicators - Food & Nutrition (Comments invited on 15-02-2020)
In 2014, the FRESH Partners published self-assessment tools that included indicators on 13 different topics or themes. In 2020, the process of updating these documents is underway. Thanks to the support provided by Astra Zeneca through the Young Health program of Plan International-UK, we have been able to prepare revisions on four of these 13 topics/themes. As we revise these documents, we are consulting experts prior to posting them here for comment from a wider audience. The revised versions will incorporate new research and resources on the topics as well as include indicators on aspects such as contextualization, implementation quality, maintaining/scaling/sustaining programs, building capacities, mainstreaming within education systems and making better use of systems science and organizational development strategies. The second of these topics, Food & Nutrition, is now made available for your comments and edits.

Draft Criteria & Indicators for Cross Cutting Themes in the FRESH Framework
Comments invited on 06-04-2020)
In 2014, the FRESH Partners published self-assessment tools for the Core Components and Thematic (Topic-focused) Indicators as part of the FRESH Framework. In 2020, the FRESH Partners have developed a set of criteria and indicators for the Cross-Cutting Themes to accompany these two previous documents. These better practices cover the original three CC themes (partnerships, community ownership and child participation) with several others, including contextualization, capacity-building, implementing-maintaining-scaling up-sustaining programs, integration/mainstreaming within schools and systems/organizational change. This draft on Cross-Cutting Themes is now available for your comments.
